Target shoppers will soon see a major change inside stores as the retailer says it has “mutually agreed” to end its “shop-in-shop” shopping experience with Bolingbrook-based beauty retailer Ulta.
According to a press release, the partnership between the two retailers will end next year.
The Ulta Beauty shop inside Target stores launched in 2021, with a select Ulta merchandise and dedicated shopping and check-out areas for customers. The mini store also allowed guests to use both Target Circle and Ulta Beauty Rewards when purchasing items.
According to a CNBC report, Target had added more than 600 Ulta Beauty shops to its stores nationwide. That’s nearly a third of Target’s 1,981 U.S. stores, the report said.
“We’re proud of our shared success with Ulta Beauty and the experience we’ve delivered together,” Rick Gomez, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Target said in the release. “The magic of shopping for beauty at Target is the combination of on-trend products that delight consumers with an inspiring and convenient shopping experience. We look forward to what’s ahead and remain committed to offering the beauty experience consumers have come to expect from Target – one centered on an exciting mix of beauty brands with continuous newness, all at an unbeatable value.”
The release went on to say Ulta makeup and beauty products will continue to be offered at Target stores and online until August of 2026.
“Target will continue to curate a differentiated beauty assortment and new experience for its tens of millions of weekly shoppers, featuring a compelling lineup of essentials and unexpected finds, engaging product trial events, and a commitment to affordable prices,” the release said.
