TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Former New York Ranger Brian Mullen was in Troy on Tuesday to help announce a partnership with the New York Rangers through a youth program called Learn to Play.
Officials said the new partnership with the Rangers will help young athletes in the region have access to professional-level coaching and programming.
“This program was designed for kids that didn’t have the opportunity to play hockey to give them the opportunity,” Mullen said. “And that’s pretty much how I grew up. I played roller hockey my whole life. So to give these kids the opportunity to step on the ice, give them the equipment, and go through a 10-week program is incredible.”
City officials said they hope the new program will make Troy a hub for youth development.
