Summary
- Naomi was not medically cleared to compete against Iyo Sky on Raw.
- Unclear how Naomi got injured; WWE posted breaking news on X.com.
- Naomi hasn’t updated her status; Roxanne Perez filled in and fans await clarity
No one seems to know what’s going on with Naomi. The current Women’s World Champion was scheduled to face Iyo Sky on Raw Monday night, but was conspicuous by her absence, especially following news from WWE that she was not medically cleared to compete. Was a mishap backstage the cause for concern? Or, is something else going on?
Did Naomi Suffer A Serious Injury?
It’s not clear when or how Naomi was taken out of action, but WWE posted on X.com, just hours before Raw aired:
“BREAKING NEWS: Naomi is not medically cleared to compete and therefore her scheduled match against Iyo Sky will not take place tonight on Monday Night Raw. Tune into tonight for continuing coverage on this developing story.”
Strangely, this came not long after she posted a video of her riding a luggage scooter backstage and hitting a cable cover. The video cuts off, but it was clear from the post that the footage likely ended in disaster. Or, at least, fans were meant to think it did. If that’s how the champion got injured, it’s a terrible break that WWE can’t be thrilled about.
How serious the injury is remains unknown. If she’ll be forced to relinquish the title is also unknown at this point. All that is known is that she hasn’t posted an update on social media, Roxanne Perez jumped in to replace her and beat Iyo Sky, and fans are waiting on what’s next.
Iyo Sky Breakup With Kabuki Warriors?
The Kabuki Warriors — Asuka and Kairi Sane —had a moment during Monday’s show with Iyo Sky. It was a segment meant to potentially tease a split between the friends.
A heel turn would not only freshen their act but pivot away from the feud that might have been set for Sky and Naomi. If so, that’s potentially not great news, suggesting that WWE has quickly shifted gears and taken Naomi out of the creative.
It might also mean nothing, and the hope is that Naomi is fine and whatever kept her out of action is minor and requires no changes to whatever the company had planned for her title run. Naomi has been doing some of her best work in WWE of late. It would be a shame if an injury is halting her momentum.
