Dash camera video shows the moments state troopers arrested a 19-year-old as he allegedly sped on the Palmetto Expressway and crashed into several cars over the weekend.
Gorki Leyva Hernandez is now behind bars and faces several charges, including reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident in connection with Sunday’s chase.
According to investigators, troopers saw Hernandez speeding and cutting in and out of several lanes of traffic, then tried to pull him over.
The arrest report said Hernandez didn’t stop, allegedly driving over the shoulder, sideswiping two cars and crashing into others.
The video shows the moment the suspect pulls over and gets out with his hands up before he’s put in handcuffs.
Inside the car, Hernandez tells troopers his girlfriend is in the car, then apologizes to her.
“Baby, I’m sorry,” he says.
At one point, Hernandez tells the state trooper that he didn’t see or hear the flashing lights.
According to the arrest report, investigators found three vape-like products with high levels of concentrated cannabis, two scales and a yellow zip-lock bag with suspected cannabis.
The teen appeared in bond court Monday morning, where a judge read the charges against him.
