DENVER (KDVR) — A Pinpoint Weather Alert Day is issued for Sunday due to severe thunderstorms across the metro.
Sunshine will return Monday after a somewhat cloudy weekend. Temperatures will remain comfortable to start the week, but the Denver weather forecast features another hot stretch of 90s starting Wednesday.
Weather tonight: A few showers or storms
A few showers or storms will be possible during the first part of the overnight period on Sunday, but the severe weather threat will largely be over after sunset. Skies will gradually clear after midnight. Temperatures will again be pleasantly cool and below normal with morning lows in the 50s. Parts of the high country will fall into the lower 40s and possibly even the upper 30s.
Weather tomorrow: Sunny and pleasant
Sunshine Monday will help temperatures warm back into the lower 80s, which is still below normal for mid-August. It will be a little breezy in the afternoon. Despite some afternoon clouds, no rain is expected.
Looking ahead: Another heatwave awaits
The warming trend continues Tuesday when it returns to the upper 80s, but that’s seasonal. Skies remain sunny Tuesday, but winds will increase with gusts up to 25 miles per hour possible in the afternoon.
Another heat dome settles in Wednesday and carries temperatures into the middle 90s. Wednesday through Friday appear to be the hottest days of the week with highs in the mid-90s, but they shouldn’t break any records. Although the forecast is largely dry, there are some signs that showers and storms may try to develop in the lower elevations on Thursday and Friday. The high terrain has the best chance for occasional rain this week.
