I raised two children with a mix of online and charter schooling because the public school did not fill our needs. Both of my children were gifted and, as such, were ignored. Online gave their lessons flexibility and the encouragement to advance and excel.
Plus it removed them from unproductive social influences. Time for social interaction was increased (no commuting), and they could bond with other children who had shared interests.
Result: both of my children have completed advanced university degrees and are actively pursuing their careers. They are very well socialized and take an active interest in family activities and matters.
Online schooling is especially important for single parents who have blended with other families for practical reasons. I don’t know of any modern families who have set schedules. Online schooling overcomes these limitations and can provide individualized lesson plans, which are much needed.
