KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following a breakout freshman season in 2024, Nalani Damacion earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches National Midfielders To Watch list announced Friday.
The 2024 Big West Midfielder of the Year, Damacion led the team a season ago with seven goals – all of them game winners. She finished tied for third nationally and first among freshmen in game-winning goals while her seven game-winners were the most by any freshman since 2015.
Already a preseason All-Big West selection, Damacion also earned first-team All-Big West and Big West All-Freshman honors last season and was named first-team All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches. She was also named Big West Freshman of the Week a record five times throughout the year and was named to Top Drawer Soccer’s Best XI Freshman nationally.
The Rocklin, Calif. native matched a school single-season record for game winners in a season, tying Natasha Kai (2004) and Tiana Fujimoto (2013). Additionally, four of Damacion’s game-winning goals came in the final 10 minutes of matches.
Damacion and the Rainbow Wahine open the 2025 season Aug. 14 at Long Beach State while the home opener at Waipi’o Peninsula Soccer Stadium is set for Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. vs. Central Arkansas.
