(NEXSTAR) – An active shooter was reported on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta, the school’s Office of Critical Event Preparedness and Response said Friday.
The shooter was at a CVS on campus, according to the school.
“Emory Emergency: Active shooter on Emory Atlanta Campus at Emory Point CVS. RUN, HIDE, FIGHT. Avoid the area. Shelter in place,” a social media post on X said.
The initial alert was posted on X at 5:01 p.m. There was no immediate word on injuries.
The Atlanta Police Department said at 5:40 p.m. the area was still an “active scene” and asked people to avoid Clifton Road near the university.
The CVS Pharmacy at Emory Point is located down the street from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters, also in Atlanta.
