Back by popular demand, the Township of Union Art Tour returns this August for its second year, transforming Union Center into a month-long celebration of arts, culture, and community. This vibrant storefront art walk, produced in collaboration with Main Street Pops—a woman-owned pop-up arts programming business—invites the public to experience local art in a dynamic, accessible way throughout the downtown Special Improvement District.
Building on last year’s success, the 2025 Art Tour promises even more creativity, more participating storefronts, and expanded community engagement. In addition to up to 50 windows activated by art, there was a new element added this year. The event officially launches with an Opening Celebration on July 29 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the new Union Arts Center Plaza at 1980 Morris Avenue. Attendees will enjoy the opportunity to preview featured artworks, meet the artists and store owners, and connect with neighbors in a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
“We are thrilled to bring the Art Tour back for a second year,” said Bill Reyes, Assistant Business Administrator of the Township of Union. “This initiative has already made a significant impact on our community, fostering pride, creativity, and economic vitality. We’re proud to continue our partnership with Main Street Pops and provide a platform for local artists to shine.”
Designed to elevate storefront windows into public art displays, the Art Tour encourages foot traffic, community connection, and support for local businesses, while positioning Union as a growing arts and culture destination.
“We were blown away by the response in our first year,” said Zabrina Stoffel, Co-Founder of Main Street Pops. “It’s been inspiring to see how public art can spark connection, and we’re excited to build on that momentum.”
The self-guided exhibit will remain on view throughout the month of August, giving residents and visitors plenty of time to explore at their own pace. There will be stickers placed throughout participating businesses where visitors can scan a QR code, leading them to a map and list of all artists and shops. Artworks will highlight a diverse range of styles and mediums, reflecting the rich artistic talent across New Jersey and within Union itself.
This year will also introduce The “U Parade”(celebrating the “pride in U’), part of an innovative, multi-phase program designed to celebrate The Township of Union’s history, culture, and local artistry. The project partnered with local artists to paint 3D wooden “U” sculptures to create a sense of unity and community pride.
The U Parade will be on display at the Union Arts Center, debuting at the Opening Celebration on July 29th.
