LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its Team Academic Awards for the 2024-25 year with the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team and the Rainbow Wahine beach team each garnering recognition.
For the indoor squad, it marked the fifth time in the last seven seasons it made the list. Meanwhile, the beach program earned the distinction of the fifth straight season.
The women’s indoor team boasted a 3.58 GPA, while the BeachBows had a 3.52 team average during the 2024-25 school year. The indoor squad was one just three Big West schools represented on the women’s list, while the BeachBows were part of four Big West schools on the beach side.
Overall, 1,450 teams across the nation earned the AVCA Team Academic Award this year. The AVCA Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams (men/women, boys/girls, indoor/beach) that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average.
The indoor team finished the 2024 season 21-10 overall and captured the program’s fifth consecutive Big West title while advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 31st consecutive time. The beach volleyball team finished the season ranked No. 19 in the final AVCA poll continuing its streak of being nationally ranked in every single week of the polls existence.
