NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – We continue to monitor INVEST 93L and the threats that it potentially poses for southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

The National Hurricane Center still gives it a 40% chance for development both over the next 48-hours and 7-days.
The area of low pressure known as “INVEST 93L” is currently located along the Florida panhandle near Panama City.
The NHC says, “the associated shower and thunderstorm activity remains disorganized and located mainly south and southwest of the center.”
It’s forecasted to move westward across the northern portion of the Gulf throughout Wednesday evening and reaching Louisiana by Thursday.
In terms of development, if the system moves far enough offshore in the Gulf, it could see environmental conditions that favor development into a Tropical Depression over the next day or two before moving fully inland by the end of the week.
Heavy rainfall could produce localized flash flooding for parts of Florida on Wednesday with parts of the north-central Gulf Coast seeing the same thing Wednesday night through Friday.
In terms of our neck of the woods, most of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi is currently under a Flood Watch until 1 a.m. Saturday.

Rainfall totals could be 3-6 inches through Saturday especially if you live near or south of the I-10 corridor, and isolated totals may possibly reach up to 10-inches.
There will be flooding regardless of tropical development as rainfall is expected to move through the area so please remember to “turn around — don’t drown” and stay safe.
