Matt Hardy has been in the wrestling business for over 30 years, and there’s no doubt his experience is incredibly valuable. However, he also has plenty of haters who undermine him. That’s exactly why he called out those haters who say he shouldn’t be wrestling in 2025.
While speaking on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy said people have underestimated him from day one and he’s completely accepted his position. To him, it is what it is.
Hardy explained that soon he’d probably start calling critics “internet nobodies” instead of “sickos,” and pointed out how those same people would watch episodes, like the one where CM Punk went to Saudi Arabia and immediately jump online to rant in big and small letters about how Matt Hardy shouldn’t be wrestling in 2025. He finds it absurd how many people think they know the wrestling business when they actually have no clue.
“People have underestimated me from f****** day one. Are you kidding me? I accept my position. It is what it is. Why so? Uh, for instance. I can’t wait. Pretty soon, as opposed to sickos, I’m probably going to say internet nobodies. I’m gonna say you should go watch next week’s — uh, you should go watch last week’s episode, the one so CM Punk goes to Saudi Arabia, so you can watch the internet nobodies coming out and go, ‘oh my god’ and, you know, write in capitals and little letters ‘Matt Hardy shouldn’t be wrestling in 2025’ or whatever. You know, it’s the people I would say in capitals and small letters — the people that think they know the business. It was just so absurd, you know, whatever.”
Hardy said there are fans out there who are just overly critical and have no idea what they’re talking about, but that’s part of how it goes sometimes. Despite all of it, he said he loves it. He gets a kick out of people thinking he doesn’t contribute anything, can’t move, sucks, or that Jeff is the only one people care about.
Matt Hardy wants them to keep it coming because he thrives on it. For Matt, it’s the same whether it’s the internet nobodies or the sickos; he stands on his word, ten toes down, fully confident.
“They do have some of those fans that are just so overly critical, like they just don’t know what the f*** they’re talking about. I mean, sometimes that happens.
But I love that, and the fact that I get that, that people think, ‘Oh this son of a b****, he doesn’t contribute anything. He’s no good. Blah blah blah. He can’t move. He sucks. F****** Jeff’s popular. Nobody likes him.’ But keep it going. Please keep it going, mother******. I can’t wait. I love it. And that goes for the internet nobodies and the sickos, because I’m at a point right now where I f****** stand on my word. All ten f****** toes.”
Matt Hardy said people are mean to him, but if they dish it out, they better be ready to get it back. He even joked that he’d put up a poll asking if the “sickos” want him back in AEW, and said he was excited to see what the results would be.
Hardy also added that companies have some fans who are just so overly critical that they don’t even know what they’re talking about. He admitted that sometimes that’s just how it goes.
“They’re mean to me. If you dish it out, be ready to get it back, baby. I’m going to do a poll, John. I’m going to say, ‘Do the sickos want me back in A-Dub?’ I’m gonna put a poll up today, man. We’ll see what the results are. They do have some of those fans that are just so overly critical, like they just don’t know what the f*** they’re talking about. I mean, sometimes that happens.”
Even with all the negativity, Matt Hardy isn’t slowing down at all. In fact, the criticism seems to push him even more. After over 30 years in wrestling, he’s still ready to show everyone that he has a lot left to give.
