ST. LOUIS – Friday will be the hottest and muggiest day of the week, with highs in the mid-90s.
Afternoon heat index values will likely reach 100 to 103 F on Friday. In the heat of the day, we may see isolated showers bubble up around the region.
Into Friday night, ahead of a cold front, showers and storms will drop in from the northwest. This looks to be after 9-10 p.m., so hopefully after most evening plans, like the Cardinals game and the Muny.
The storms should be losing some strength as they move in, but we could still see some strong to severe storms, especially northwest of metro St. Louis. The main threats would be wind gusts to 60 mph and quarter-size hail.
Towards daybreak, the storms should fade. Saturday will start with a mix of clouds and sun, but we’ll watch for additional rain and storms during the afternoon. It will be cooler on Saturday, with highs in the upper 80s.
Sunday will also bring scattered afternoon and early evening storms.
