In 2012, he was charged with raping four women but pleaded down to a misdemeanor charge. In 2019, he was connected to a rape kit from 2009, but that case was dismissed due to the victim passing away. This latest case happened in 2022. “There is no question that the defendant tortured, humiliated a woman who frankly, under the circumstances is lucky to be alive today. Mr. Montano has taken advantage of a population in our community that is incredibly vulnerable,” Judge Cindy Leos said in court Thursday.
Judge Leos sentenced Montano to 52 years behind bars.
