ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A man already in custody for a drive-by armed robbery has been charged for a double shooting in Kirkwood earlier this month.
According to the Kirkwood Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened just after 8 p.m. on June 7 in a parking lot along Milwaukee Street.
Police said Eveneiser Mesgna (age not provided) was sitting in a parked car when two people approached his vehicle. Mesgna knew one of the individuals from a prior argument.
Mesgna took out a gun and shot one victim in the chest and the other in the leg, police said. The victims were rushed to the hospital. The victim with the chest wound remains in the ICU.
Mesgna was arrested on June 12 following a high-speed police pursuit for the aforementioned drive-by armed robbery.
Police said Mesgna admitted to the Kirkwood shooting on June 24 while in custody.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Mesgna with two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, and one count of unlawful use of a weapon. He’s being held on $100,000 cash-only bond for this case.
Mesgna was charged last week with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, and aggravated fleeing a stop or detention in the armed robbery case.
