Shay Kassidy prepares for King of the Metro.
This Friday, Pro-Wrestling Australia returns to the Metro Theatre in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia for the 2025 King of the Metro event. Among the card is a PWA Tag Team Championship match pitting the Velocities (Paris De Silva and Jude London) against the defending titleholders, Shay Kassidy and Everett Connors of The Backslide Girlz.
For Kassidy, this marks her first encounter with The Velocities in tag team action. Still, she heads into King of the Metro with confidence in both herself and Connors.
“I am very excited. I’ve never wrestled the Velocities as a tag, which I think is going to be so interesting,” Kassidy said. “Obviously, they’ve tagged countless amount of times. Me and Everett have tagged maybe like a handful of times, so we’re very much at a disadvantage there, but we are coming in as the champions, so we’re kind of the big dogs. But not to underestimate them at all because they are they are literally like the best tag team in the country, if not in the conversation. I’m very excited for that. I’ve wrestled Paris in a singles before and that was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed that, so I’m very much looking forward to high stakes, biggest show, title match, what’s gonna happen.”

Who will be The King of the Metro?
Elsewhere at the June 27 event, 30 wrestlers will enter the 2025 King of the Metro Rumble, with the winner earning a future PWA title match of their choosing. Names such as The Tuckman, Jack B. Bonza, Ben Braxton, Rita Stone, and former PWA Heavyweight Champion Jessica Troy have already been confirmed for the high-stakes match. Kassidy herself could potentially join in as well coming off her PWA Tag Team Championship match.
Amongst the announced PWA King of the Metro Rumble participants, Kassidy believes three stand out as possible winners.
“I think Jess [Troy] could be a very high contender. Obviously, I know she’s coming off losing the championship [to Charli Evans], but I think that has given her probably the biggest chip on her shoulder to come back to win,” Kassidy said. “I would assume she would be going after Charli for the title if Charli’s still champion after the show.
“I also think The Tuckman could win this as well,” she continued. “[He’s entering at number one], but I think he’s got a fire under him. I think if anyone could do it from number one, I think it could be him. Ben Braxton’s another I look at and go ‘Yeah.’ He’s obviously had a chip on his shoulder for ages now because of wanting to be in Colosseum and not being in it last year. Obviously, he’s got a lot that he feels he has to prove. I don’t know out of those three who I would definitely go with. Maybe my number one is Jess because I love Jess and I want her to win and be successful.”
