The Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) is honored to announce the graduation of 57 first responders who successfully completed various levels of fire and emergency medical services (EMS) training.
On Monday, June 16, 2025, the graduates were joined by friends and family, along with members of LC-CFRS leadership, Loudoun County Administration and the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors at a ceremony recognizing these individuals who have committed to honorably serve their communities. Clerk of the Circuit Court Gary Clemens was in attendance to officially swear in the graduates. Deputy Chief of Volunteer Administration Todd Lupton emceed the event and introduced those in attendance to include Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chair-at-Large, Phyllis Randall, and Loudoun County Administrator, Tim Hemstreet.
30 of the students completed the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course, 11 completed the Advanced EMT (AEMT) course, and 16 students completed the Firefighter I-II course.
In addition to their full-time jobs, schooling, and family obligations, the graduates dedicated countless hours throughout their training and have achieved Loudoun County, Commonwealth of Virginia, and national certifications.
It is tradition for LC-CFRS instructors to designate one individual as the “top student” for each graduating class that exemplifies leadership, dedication, academic success, and the ability to motivate others. The top students recognized include Justin Mills for Fire School 25-1, Irma Hopke for AEMT Class, and Mark Adams for EMT Class.
“This evening, we are recognizing the accomplishments of nearly 60 volunteer first responders – new firefighters, new emergency medical technicians, and new advanced life support providers, specifically advanced EMTs,” said Systemwide Fire Chief James Williams. “I want to congratulate each of you and thank you for your service to Loudoun County. Thank you to your families for their support and the sacrifices that have made in your service to Loudoun County.”
