CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — The city of Chula Vista’s Cultural Arts Commission (CAC) is currently accepting applications for its ambassador program with a sister city in Japan.
The Odawara Youth Ambassador Exchange Program is intended for incoming or current college students and young professionals who live in Chula Vista.
This year, four residents between the ages of 18 and 28 will be chosen to represent Chula Vista in Odawara, according to a news release from the city. The four selected ambassadors will be hosted by a family in Odawara.
According to the city’s website, the exchange program will focus primarily on three sectors — local government, business and citizen volunteerism.
The CAC will provide participants with a stipend of up to $1,000 for airfare.
Ambassadors from Chula Vista will stay in Odawara, Japan from Aug. 1 to 12 and the selected ambassadors from the sister city will be in the South Bay from Aug. 12 to 22.
Participants must be able to commit to the entire duration of the program, according to the CAC.
Interested Chula Vista residents can fill out an online application on the city’s website.
The deadline to submit applications is Sunday, April 13.
