DENVER (KDVR) — A former commander at the La Plata County Jail faces 117 charges, according to a press release from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
In a press release sent to FOX31, Edward Aber, 62, was promoted to Jail Commander in 2018 and was granted administrative access to evidence.com in 2019. He was placed on administrative leave in July 2024 following allegations of unlawful sexual contact with female inmates and sexual harassment of female employees.
He allegedly watched “sensitive video footage.”
Aber stepped down in July 2024 during the investigation, despite no charges being filed regarding the sexual conduct with inmates.
CBI was contacted in January to assist in the investigation alongside the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators believe that Aber allegedly watched 117 different female inmates’ strip search videos between Feb. 14, 2019, and Jan. 14, 2024.
Aber faces charges, including:
- 117 counts of invasion of privacy for sexual gratification
- One count of first-degree official misconduct
Both charges are Class 1 Misdemeanors.
