Police said they are looking for seven suspects in an early-morning shooting that killed two men this week.
NYPD officials described six men and one woman who they say fled the scene on Brush Avenue in Throgs Neck near after two men in their 20s were shot and killed around 5:30 a.m. Monday. Two of the suspects fled on a moped, while the woman fled on foot and the others jumped into a car and drove off, police said.
The gunfire erupted next to Ferry Point Park, a popular spot for soccer games and nighttime barbecues. Officials said the area is often used as a place for car meetups, given its proximity to the park and a large open parking lot behind a warehouse.
Officials identified the victims as Gabriel Alvarez, a 22-year-old resident of Stratford, Connecticut, and 21-year-old Adam Waldropt of the Bronx. Police said they are still investigating whether they knew any of the suspects and what spurred the shooting.
Another shooting injured a 21-year-old man up the block around 3:45 a.m. Saturday, but officials said it was not related to Monday’s fatal shooting.
