The 2022 iteration of the Survivor Series Premium Live Event was yet another fantastic event produced by WWE under the new creative regime of Triple H. The show, held in a sold-out TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, was headlined by two War Games matches, both of which certainly exceeded the fans’ expectations.
Survivor Series is one of WWE’s Big Four annual events and therefore had some monumental moments, such as Sami Zayn turning on Kevin Owens, and Austin Theory winning the United States Championship. However, something which made the night even better was how certain stars came out in unique attires as a way to present themselves in the best way possible.
7/7 AJ Styles
Survivor Series saw AJ Styles’s long-running PPV/PLE losing streak end, as The Phenomenal One defeated Finn Balor to pick up his first single’s win since the Covid-19 Pandemic began.
While Styles’ gear at the event was a fairly simple one, it was indeed paying homage to those worn by him during his Bullet Club days in NJPW. The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion wore black tights with the OC logos on it, while wearing a mask inspired from his Wrestle Kingdom 10 attire during his entrance at the show.
6/7 Bianca Belair
One of the most fascinating things about Bianca Belair’s in-ring gear has always been the fact that the current Raw Women’s Champion not only designs her own attire, but also stitches it all by herself.
For the Women’s War Games bout, the EST of WWE wore a purple and orange attire. What made the gear so unique was how vibrant the theme was, making Belair more visible through the cage. Also, similar to her Crown Jewel attire, the gear gave a more comic book character vibe to the audience.
5/7 Dakota Kai
Since her return to WWE at this year’s SummerSlam, Dakota Kai has not missed a shot in winning over the WWE audience. One of the major aspects of this have been her and her Damage CTRL faction choosing attires with a more villainous theme.
This continued at the Survivor Series PLE, where the now two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion wore a black and silver attire. Kai’s gear seemed to inspired from the theme of the War Games cage, which is a subtle nod to the fact that her current character was actually born during the chaotic match back in 2019.
4/7 Bayley
Speaking of Dakota Kai, her faction mate and multiple time former Women’s Champion Bayley doesn’t shy away herself when it comes to presenting herself like a megastar that she is through the help of her amazing in-ring attires.
At the PLE, Bayley chose to wear all-leather gear, something which is usually uncommon for a wrestlers’ in-ring attire. It featured black and silver, similar to the gears worn by Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. Moreover, Bayley even went with a fully dark red hairstyle, making her seem like a final boss of an anime series, something which her currently character certainly resonates with.
3/7 Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins has by far had the best big match ring-gears in all of 2022. From wearing a Shield vest against Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble, to rocking a Dusty Rhodes inspired attire against Cody Rhodes at Hell in a Cell, the now former United Stated Champion always finds a way to make himself stand out.
Rollins continued this tradition at the PLE, as he wore a Black, Golden, and Silver attire in his triple threat match against Bobby Lashley and Austin Theory. This was one of Rollins’ simpler gears, perhaps due to him turning more into a babyface recently. Even though he lost his bout, he surely presented himself like the star he is before putting over the young Theory.
2/7 The Bloodline
There’s absolutely no denying that the PLE was indeed an all in all night for the Bloodline, as the promotion’s top faction finally embraced Sami Zayn after he helped the group pick up the victory in the main event against the all-star team of Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Butch, Ridge Holland, and Zayn’s former best friend Kevin Owens.
The match told a multiple layered story, which culminated as the show went off-air with a united Bloodline standing tall. This is something which was foreshadowed in the ring attire of the group, as other than Roman all members of the faction chose to wear a matching all-red gear, which was the first time they have ever done it.
1/7 Becky Lynch
Finally, the best attire of the night was indeed that worn by a returning Becky Lynch. The former 6-time women’s champion returned from a shoulder injury on the go-home episode of SmackDown for Survivor Series, revealing herself as the final member of Bianca Belair’s team for the War Games match at the PLE.
As this was Lynch’s first match back as a babyface, returning to her The Man gimmick, she took a huge leap away from the over-the-top clothing she was rocking during her run portraying the Big Time Becks character. In fact, she did not even go for her vintage black attire she originally used to wear. Instead, Becky chose to wear a war inspired attire, something which went perfectly considering the name and the nature of the bout she was taking a part in. The match also saw Becky wearing full tights, something which she has rarely done during her career.
