A second suspect was arrested in connection with the deadly assault of a man in Long Beach.
The suspects, Brandon Brewington, 36, and Thongsay Ky, 58, are accused of murdering Chamrong Sok, 52, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
On March 11, police responded to a local hospital to investigate a man who was admitted with injuries to his upper body.
At the time, police said Sok was uncooperative in providing details of the attack; however, he indicated that he was assaulted in a parking lot near Anaheim Street.
On April 24, Sok died from his injuries and his death was ruled a homicide by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
Through their investigation, detectives identified Ky as one of the suspects. Both Ky and the victim were homeless at the time.
On July 2, Ky was found inside his vehicle near the 1400 block of South Harbor Scenic Drive. He was arrested for murder and is being held on $2 million bail.
On Aug. 14, police identified Brewington as the second suspect. Brewington was already in custody on an unrelated charge and was later arraigned for murder.
Although the motive behind the deadly assault remains under investigation, police believe the suspects were involved in a physical altercation with the victim.
Homicide detectives have presented the case to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.
Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call LBPD Homicide Detective Michael Hutchinson at 562-570-7244.
