Two off-duty Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue firefighters on Sunday saved a man from a car fire in Weston.
According to officials, the incident happened on southbound Interstate 75, just north of Royal Palm Boulevard.
Officials said the vehicle left the roadway and struck a light pole, which ignited a small fire.
The two off-duty lieutenants were traveling nearby when it happened and were able to control the fire using portable fire extinguishers.
They then helped the man out of the car.
The patient was taken by helicopter to Broward Health Medical Center, where he’s expected to recover.
The Florida Highway Patrol is now investigating the cause of the crash.
