16-year-old boy shot, killed in Hammond

HAMMOND, Ind. — A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed Wednesday evening in Hammond.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1000 block of 177th Street at around 7:25 p.m.

Officers located the boy, identified Friday morning as Michael Reyna, 16, of Hammond.

Reyna was transported to a hospital in Munster where he was pronounced dead.

The Lake Coroner’s Office ruled his death a homicide.
