BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 42-year-old woman is facing homicide and arson charges following a fire on Monday that led to one death and injured another, according to the Olean Police Department.
Olean Police said that Carole Landrau, 76, was found dead following a fire at 137 N. 9th St. around 5:30 p.m. Monday. A man was also treated for burns at Olean General Hospital and later released.
Diane M. Casciani was charged with criminally negligent homicide, second-degree arson and first-degree reckless endangerment, police said. Casciani had been staying at the apartment, Olean Police said.
Casciani has been transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail as the investigation continues, Olean Police said.
