FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A man was taken into custody after leading Arkansas State Police on a high-speed pursuit early June 12 in Fayetteville, according to a police report.
Around 12:32 a.m., a trooper spotted a black Cadillac sedan with a defective tag light near mile marker 68 on I-49 southbound. When the trooper tried to initiate a stop, the vehicle accelerated to 114 mph and a pursuit began.
The suspect reached speeds over 140 mph, exited at Exit 61, made a U-turn on South Fulbright Avenue, and began driving west, at one point traveling the wrong way in traffic, according to the report. Troopers used a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver to try and stop the vehicle, but the driver continued north on I-49.

Spike strips were deployed near Exit 70, successfully deflating several tires. A second TVI near Exit 73 brought the chase to an end.
The driver, identified as Michael Dorsey, told troopers his gas pedal was stuck. He was evaluated at a hospital and cleared with no injuries. A passenger in the vehicle was not hurt.
Dorsey was booked into the Washington County Jail and faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing, unauthorized use of property and several traffic violations. Doresy remains in custody on $75,000 bond as of June 24.
