We’re locked into that classic summer setup — heat, humidity, and yes, the chance for some severe weather later today. If you’ve been outside this morning, you already know it’s sticky, and that’s not going away anytime soon.

We’ll keep an eye out for a few scattered showers and storms this morning, but for the most part, it’s going to be a mostly cloudy start to the day with temps climbing quickly- expect it to be around 80 by lunchtime.

This afternoon, it gets uncomfortable. High humidity and rising temperatures will fuel showers and storms, especially after 4 p.m. Some of these storms could turn severe with damaging winds, large hail, and even an isolated tornado or two, not out of the question. That threat lingers until around 10 tonight, then begins to taper off as a front pushes through the region.

Behind that front? Some temporary relief. Thursday shapes up to be the most comfortable day of the week. Lower humidity and cooler air will make for a pleasant break- enjoy it while you can. Winds shift Thursday night, and that opens the door for humidity to come roaring back by Friday.
Friday will be warmer, with muggy air building once again. Highs climb into the mid-80s, and you’ll definitely feel the difference. Then, just in time for the official start of summer — the solstice hits at 10:45 p.m. Friday – the heat really cranks up.
This weekend and early next week? Hot. Humid. Highs pushing into the 90s with that familiar summer swelter settling in from Saturday through at least Tuesday. If you’ve got outdoor plans, make sure you’re staying hydrated and taking breaks in the shade.
A break does arrive — eventually. A wave of low pressure mid to late next week brings better rain chances and a cooldown, offering a bit of relief from this summer furnace.
Stay weather aware today, especially this afternoon and evening. We’ll be tracking the storms and keeping you updated so you can stay safe during the severe weather.
