San Diego Police will host a drive-thru gun exchange event Saturday, with $100 Target gift cards and skateboards available for those turning in unwanted firearms.
The “no questions asked” event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Joe and Vi Jacobs Center, located at 404 Euclid Avenue.
Participants bringing in handguns will get a Target gift card or a skateboard, while those turning in assault rifles will get two Target gift cards or a skateboard.
Firearms must be in functional condition to qualify for an exchange. At the event, participants must leave the firearms unloaded and in the trunk of their vehicle. All collected guns will be destroyed.
Participating skateboard brands include Carver, Loaded, Landyachtz, G&S, Flying Aces, Badlands, and Carving for Peace.
The event is hosted by the San Diego Police Department’s Community and Youth Services Division, in partnership with New Vision Church and the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office.
