Time of WTA Finals for the eight best tennis players of 2024, who will compete at the King Saud University Indoor Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to crown a season that saw them shine on the tennis courts. Among them there is the young Chinese Qinwen Zheng, gold medalist at the Paris Olympics, who will start her year-end Masters today challenging the WTA No.1 Aryna Sabalenka.
Zheng, in the media day of the tournament, analyzed many interesting and even funny topics, such as her make-up, which, according to her Chinese fans, makes her look like a forty-year-old.
“The dress is really beautiful. It’s Christian Dior. It was a great dress for me. I think the makeup could maybe be a little better! People say I look like I’m in my 40s. The Chinese fans, they say that. I don’t know why. Yeah, maybe the makeup, next time I could do it better. I’m always very confident in front of the camera. Not when I was 19. I feel really weird. I always ask them, please teach me some moves. Now it’s very fluid, like I’m on the tennis court. It’s the same for me. The girls were really beautiful. I remember the Chinese fans, let’s say Jasmine Paolini also looked really beautiful sitting next to that chair,” she told.
Talking about friendships on the Tour, the young Chinese tennis player explained how it’s impossible for her to bond with people she has to compete against on the court to win matches.
“I don’t feel like I can be friends with someone and compete with them on the court. Concentration and fight 100%. When I have to scream, I can’t because I feel a little weird. Once I realized that, I decided not to try to make a friend on the Tour because there are so many people outside the tennis world. Why do I have to make friends here? I come here to compete with them, to win the match. I prefer to always keep my distance from the player. He has a lot of competition with me. I’m a kind of sensitive person with a heart,” Qinwen analyzed.
