Police involved in standoff at Newington motel

NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — Police were involved in a standoff at a Newington motel Thursday night.

Police appeared to be focusing on the Carrier Lodge Motel. The mobile Major Crimes Unit was on the scene there. As of 11 p.m., the standoff had been going for around seven hours.

There were also officers next door at both the White Swan Motel and the Friendly Acres Motel.

News 8 was on scene and it appeared the standoff was over as of 11 p.m. but there was still a large police presence in the area. An ambulance came to the scene and a stretcher was taken off into the distance.

It is not known who was involved in the standoff or the circumstances of the investigation at this time.
