A suburban Oswego woman who tried to stage her girlfriend’s murder as a suicide was sentenced to 30 years in prison, according to the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Alexia Telles, 28, was sentenced to 30 years in prison under a plea agreement following the death of her girlfriend.
Telles was charged in February of 2023 after she arrived at a home in Oswego with her girlfriend, Annissa Ellen-Williams, who had sustained a traumatic injury to the head, prosecutors said. Ellen-Williams was pronounced dead by first responders.
Law enforcement conducted an investigation, which revealed the two had an argument while Ellen-Williams was driving, police stated.
Based on forensic and digital evidence as well as statements made to police, investigators concluded Telles murdered Ellen-Williams and tried to make it look like a suicide, authorities said.
“This sentence ensures that justice is served, and the victim’s family does not have to endure the pain of a trial,” Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis said in a statement, in part. “Telles has accepted responsibility for the heartless act she committed against someone she professed to care so much for…”
Telles will be required to serve 100% of her 30-year sentence, which will be followed by three years of mandatory supervised release
