ST. LOUIS – We had a high of 91 F on Tuesday. That’s the first time this year we’ve hit 90 F this year and the 17th latest first 90 F day ever for St. Louis.
Thunderstorms will be to our west as many wake up early Wednesday morning. This energy should bring some scattered storms to the St. Louis area later this morning. Some of these storms could come with some strong winds and heavy downpours.
There will be a break with the sun breaking through and warming us into the 80s before new storms fire up Wednesday afternoon. It looks like the strongest storms may stay well out ahead of the cold front, southeast of the St. Louis region.
Some storms on Wednesday will accompany a cold front that is expected to arrive during the Wednesday evening timeframe. The storms may produce damaging winds, hail, and even a low-end tornado threat. The afternoon energy greatly depends on how the morning storms play out.
After Wednesday, we dry out and the forecast turns to hot weather. Highs by the weekend will be in the mid to even upper 90s with not much cooling overnight.
