Sunrisers Hyderabad’s most prolific player of all time, David Warner, has posted a farewell message for the franchise ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s final league game of a dreadful season. The Orange Army are set to finish bottom of the table only for the first time in their 9 seasons of existence and ahead of the mega auction that will arrive next season, it seems likely that Warner will not continue with the franchise.
“Thank you for the memories created. To all the fans, you have been a driving force for our team always to give 100%. I can’t thank you all enough for the support shown to us. It’s been a great ride. My family and I are going to miss you all,” he wrote on his Instagram post. David Warner failed to get into the XI once again.
David Warner last played for the franchise in their narrow defeat to Punjab Kings. He failed to get runs this season, having registered just 195 runs at a strike rate of 107.33, which has been his worst since he started playing for IPL back in 2009. He scored 4,014 runs for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 7 seasons he donned the Orange Army jersey, winning the title as a captain in 2016.
Here’s Warner’s post.
What next for David Warner?
It is unclear if Sunrisers Hyderabad intend to keep the player with them or they will let him go, but it seems like in the battle between Kane Williamson and David Warner, the Kiwi captain has won the race. He might be retained for the next season ahead of David Warner, which means franchisees will go hell for leather to gain the services of Warner, who is an IPL-winning captain himself.

If the franchise fails to get hold of David Warner in the auction, it means David Warner will don a third different jersey since making his debut for Delhi Capitals in 2009. One of the two new franchises that will be integrated into the IPL might be the favorites to land his services, but not to forget, the likes of Chennai, Bangalore, and Kolkata too will be looking for leadership roles.
