Scottsdale police arrested the man suspected of fleeing a traffic stop and endangering four officers and two pedestrians in Old Town Scottsdale.
Nelious E. Horsley III, 29, was arrested on Monday near his Scottsdale home, according to police. Horsley was stopped by two officers for traveling the wrong way on Saddlebag Trail Saturday night.
Officers spoke with him and a passenger; police said the pair was argumentative and tried to get out of the car against officers’ orders. The two officers requested back up and another two officers arrived.
Horsley refused to turn the vehicle off and get out when officers told him to several times, according to police.
Then an officer opened the door to get Horsley out. He resisted, struggled with the officer and drove away “endangering the other officers standing near the vehicle,” police said.
Police initially said the three other officers and two pedestrians who were crossing the roadway were hit by the car. On Tuesday, police said Horsley hit one of the pedestrians.
No one was seriously injured, according to police.
Horsley was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault on a police officer, endangerment and felony flight.
The pedestrians didn’t want to press charges so Horsley wasn’t charged with hit-and-run, according to police.
Police are not looking for the passenger who was also in the vehicle.
