NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The National Hurricane Center is currently keeping an eye on an area of low pressure system about 450-miles east of Bermuda where there are showers and thunderstorms appearing to be “showing signs of organization.”
The NHC says that wind data indicates the system possesses “well-defined surface circulation, and additional organization of the shower and thunderstorm activity” which could possibly lead to formation of a short-lived tropical depression over the next day or so.
This particularly area has a 40% chance of formation over the next 2 to 7-days:

NHC predicts this system to “encounter less favorable environmental conditions” by Tuesday that would end any opportunity to further develop.
At this time, the system is moving northeastward at 5 to 10 mph and remaining over the open central Atlantic.
Please note that even if this system were to form into a tropical storm or hurricane, it would not impact our area as it’s located in the Atlantic Basin not the Gulf of America.
