WSSC Water issued a boil water advisory for parts of Prince George’s County, Maryland, after a 16-inch water main broke in Hyattsville near the Cheverly Metro Station, according to a news release.
The order includes Cheverly, Seat Pleasant, Capitol Heights and nearby communities.
Crews will begin repairs when the water is shut off. An estimated time for service to be restored will be provided after the broken pipe is dug up.
People in the affected areas should boil water for a minute and cool it before using it for:
- Drinking
- Brushing teeth
- Washing fruits and vegetables
- Preparing baby food and formula
- Making ice
- Giving to pets
WSSC Water is working to establish a water distribution station to hand out bottles of water to affected customers.
