OCEANSIDE, Calif. — The Oceanside Unified School District on Monday voted three to one to close Reynolds Elementary School over safety concerns. Reynolds Elementary was recently being evaluated for a modernization project, according to Oceanside Unified. Six months of testing showed the soil conditions do not allow for any construction and also puts the current buildings at risk in case of an earthquake. Dozens of families attended the special meeting Monday night with signs in hope to convince the Oceanside Unified School District from closing the Douglas Drive campus. OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) – BART police arrested a man who attempted to steal an iPad from a rider on Monday, according to BART police. Around 4:40 p.m., BART officers boarded a Richmond bound train as the suspect fled off the train after allegedly stealing a rider’s iPad, BART police said. Los Angeles public schools would probably shut down in the event of a planned three-day, simultaneous strike by unions representing 65,000 workers, including teachers and support staff, as the walkout would be too much to overcome and student safety could not be ensured in the nation’s second-largest school district, Supt.
