CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Five people have stepped up to run write-in campaigns for the City Council Ward 2 seat, which opened when its current occupant was deemed ineligible to run for re-election.
After the ballot qualification deadline passed, current City Councilperson Vondell Richmond was declared ineligible because of questions about his residency. With no opponents having qualified for the seat by the deadline, and early voting starting in just one month, there’s no time to replace him on the ballot.
Candidates had until Monday to register as write-ins. The Ward 2 residents who will be running as registered write-in candidates are:
- William “Bill” F. Cody of Donna Drive.
- William “Bill” Doll of Charlemagne Boulevard.
- Robert A. Kirkland of Lafayette Road.
- Deanna McLaughlin of Mossland Drive.
- Jeremy Wright of Anita Court.
Ward 2 covers northwest Clarksville, bounded by Highway 374, Fort Campbell Boulevard and Dover Road.
To vote write-in during voting, select “Write In,” type the candidate’s name, and hit enter.
Early voting will be Oct. 19-Nov. 3 at the Election Commission, located at 350 Pageant Lane, or at the Clarksville Regional Airport, located at 200 Airport Road. Election Day is Nov. 8.
